Aloha, Greetings from Oahu

Hawaii was AMAZING! Just what the doctor ordered I really think everyone should go on a fabulous vacation at least once a year. It’s good for the soul and gets you away from the everyday grime. Our trip to Hawaii started out a little rocky it took me a day or two to get over my sinusitis (clean air sped the process)… but you can bet your sneakers that when I was better I rocked Hawaii. We did everything Oahu had to offer we went snorkeling, visited the WWII memorial, went to a luau, rented a convertible and drove up to North shore, visited the Dole plant and even saw sea turtles! We also did this amazing food tour that took us to delicious places that locals go to… let’s just say Ryan fell in love with a Hawaiian bun called manopoa…yumm. We even tried the Loco Moco as seen on the Travel Channel take a look.

Fairs :)

I love fairs… Everyone is happy, excited, gets to be a kid again. When I was a kid we went to the Del Mar Fair in San Diego the fifth largest in the nation. We got the opportunity to go this past fourth of July and watch the legendary Smokey Robinson perform. WE did it all. Ate giant turkey legs, crème puffs, kabobs, deep-fried who knows (thank goodness my digestive system was feeling better). We didn’t stop at the food we attended a wine festival at the fair and walked the fair’s harvesting garden were we learned how to grow our own vegetables and fruits. We watched the shows, animals and strolled through the many exhibits. I loved it! Above are pictures from that adventure.

Currently, the fair is in Bakersfield. The Kern County fair is one of my favorites because it was where Ryan and I had our first official date. So, we must attend! It’s tradition:) We are going this Monday and I am getting excited I can’t wait to see Hanson, the animals, and the exhibits. Not to mention the food! My yearly sugary funnel cake…. (note to self don’t wear black.)

Mammoth's Wine Festival

We had the opportunity to take one last vacation with the Newland family before school started. We went the same weekend as the Mammoth Wine Festival and Gavin DeGraw was there. If you ever get the opportunity to go, do it! Especially with a group of great people.

Viva Las Vegas!

I love summer! I think this is the first summer where I have had some sort of vacation with not to many worries. A friend was getting married so Ryan, a few friends and I spent the weekend in Las Vegas! I am happy to say that I won $140 playing the tables. We also go a chance to watch the very good but very naughty show Zumanity (I DO NOT suggest this show to families with children). We had a good time at Margaritaville, Downtown, Fremont, Venetian, and the RIO.

I am back from Washington

Wow that was an amazing trip! I have never been anywhere so lush with greenery and incredibly beautiful. I would only hope that I can go back there again and share it’s beauty with everyone I know. I was there for a week… but I can tell you a week was not enough time to embrace the beauty of this state. Here are few pictures out of hundreds captured of my stay in Bellingham/ Seattle/ Lynden/ Fairhaven.

From time to time I love looking and reading quotes. Here are a few of my favorite quotes:

Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars. ~Les Brown

Things turn out best for the people who make the best out of the way things turn out. ~Art Linkletter
